Holding Hands

In the grand scheme of things it was but a blink.
We only worked together for a few months.
The most professional yet hilarious time
Of my 20-plus year career.

I was in awe of her.
I would later find out that she felt the same way.
We dare not make eye contact for fear of laughing.
We dare not speak at times for fear of making jokes.

When I hit the skids
She was the only person who was there.
She will never know
That this will last with me forever.

We haven’t seen each other for quite some time.
We don’t need to.
We know that we’re on the same wavelength
And by each others side at all times.

We will meet again one day.
I know not where, when or under what circumstanes
But we will meet again
And I will remain awestruck.

There are words that remain unspoken.
