I was sitting in my living room
I heard a ‘thud’ on the window
A sparrow had flown into it

The sparrow hit the ground
It just sat there.
I went outside to check on it.
It was stunned but alive.

I went and placed a shoe box over it.
My Grandfather taught me that
To reduce the trauma
When it regained its’ senses.

Thirty minutes later I checked on it.
The sparrow was more alert.
I gently picked it up
And it sat there confused but content.

After a while it began to look around
And flutter its’ wings.
It looked at me.
The sparrow was ready to fly.

A few moments later
It began to walk around my hand.
Without warning the sparrow flew off into the distance.
To get back to its’ daily routine.
