Keep your friends close
And you’re enemies closer.
I’m not so sure about that.
How do you want to spend your time?
Keeping an eye on them?
Play mind games?
I prefer having my friends closer
And my enemies out of sight.
I want nothing to do with my enemies.
I have no interest in them
So why should I keep them near?
You don’t feel comfortable in their presence
So why put yourself through the displeasure?
I’d just as soon keep my friends closer
And my enemies as distant ghosts.
Out of harms way.
I have more enjoyable people to surround myself with.
If I’m close to somebody
Am I actually an enemy?
It doesn’t take Einstein to work out.
If I turn out to be your enemy by deception
Stay well away from me.
Good one . Taking the other point of view. I realise you know that saying isn’t meant to be taken literally. It means among other things you need to be aware of what your enemy is up to in war more than your trusted Allies. In personal life your ‘enemies’ are more likely to point out your faults than your friends and sometimes it is our ‘enemies’ that challenge us and make us a better person than our friends who may only agree with us and pat us on the back.

Friends hang around when you neeed them. Enemies tend not to…..that’s my experience anyway.
