Court

As he stood in the docks
A clearly innocent man
He was relentlessly questioned
By a pointless Prosecutor.

All of the evidence was in his favour.
It was clear for all to see.
Even the judge
Displayed his displeasure.

Despite his innocence
He shook and was sweating
As the questioning continued.
Rapidfire.

He was in the wrong place
At the wrong time.
It was that simple.
Police incompetence led him to court.

After the inevitable ‘not guilty’ verdict
Was handed down
He was a broken man.
He would never be the same.

Despite the press being on his side
People still gossiped
And stared
At this innocent, shattered man.

He could take it no more
And ended his life.
All for nothing.
